Our Lady of the Lake Kid-2-Kid Leadership Program trains 7th and 8th grade students in communication, decision-making, and group building skills as well as topics relevant to young children today. These trained leaders assist younger students in staying healthy by making better choices and expressing themselves in a more positive manner. The student mentors meet with the younger students to model positive behaviors and decision making.
Potential leaders must fill out an application, receive a recommendation by a teacher, be interviewed and attend all sessions of training throughout the school year. Kid-2-Kid leaders meet during their lunch periods to receive training thus preparing them for the weekly programs geared to students in Grades 1 thru 5. While at Our Lady of the Lake, student mentors are charged with being a positive role model, doing their best in their classes and having time for their Kid2Kid chat with one or two younger children throughout the school year.
